Crystalens® Procedure

Crystalens® IOLs are used to replace the natural lens after cataract surgery. Cataract surgery is one of the most common surgeries performed in the world. And the Crystalens® implant procedure can be done in an outpatient setting in a matter of minutes.

The procedure begins with numbing drops placed in the eye and local anesthetic is given. A micro-seal is made at the edge of the cornea and the natural lens is gently suctioned away. The Crystalens® IOL is then implanted.

Recovery time from the Crystalens® IOL procedure is also a relatively short. You will be able to see an improvement in your vision almost immediately. Due to the small size of the incision made in the eye, you will also be able to return to normal activity very quickly. You will be surprised at how well you will be able to see things at all distances. For many people, this may be clearer than they’ve been able to see for years.

Though there are some risks, these are minimal and every effort is made to reduce them as much as possible by the experienced eye doctors at Carter Eye Center. You will be able to discuss these when you come in for an initial consultation.

If you are interested in clearing up your vision with Crystalens® IOL and live in the Dallas, Texas area, please contact Carter Eye Center to consult with the first ophthalmologist in the US to implant the FDA approved Crystalens®.
