Visian ICL™

Eye glasses and contacts can be annoying and expensive. Both may become lost, both can be damaged, and both can be just another headache in your already busy life. For years people have been looking for a solution that can permanently solve the issue of having to wear glasses or contacts. Many people find success with LASIK, but there are those who are not good candidates or do not want to undergo this procedure.

One alternative to LASIK is the implantable collamer lens, or ICL. One of the manufacturers of these lenses is Visian, and used by Carter Eye Center. The ICL is surgically implanted to correct nearsightedness, and is placed just behind the iris and in front of the eye's natural lens. Once it has been placed, you will not be able to see it or feel it, unlike contacts if they begin to irritate your eye. Also unlike contacts, once the Visian ICL™ has been placed, there is nothing more that you need to do with it.

The ICL procedure can be completed in less than ten minutes. A small incision is made at the edge of the cornea and the ICL is placed behind the iris. Due to the small size of the incision, healing is very quick. You will notice an improvement in your vision almost immediately and no one will be able to tell that the ICL is there behind the iris.

If you are interested in a permanent solution to nearsightedness, please contact the experienced Visian ICL™ doctors at Carter Eye Center in Dallas, Texas.
