Lynne's Lasik Story

Dallas, Texas

I first got glasses when I was in third grade. At the time, I thought they were the cool thing to have. But as I got older and more involved in track and dancing, it became more difficult for me to do the things I love. Running without sunglasses so I could actually see where I was running was an inconvenience. And the stage lights would glare off my glasses causing a lot of distractions when I was dancing. Then in 8th grade my mom finally decided to let me have contacts, but the only ones my doctor would give me were hard contacts. Those were PAINFUL to wear, dried out my eyes, and the last straw was when one broke IN MY EYE because I got hit by a football. I went back to glasses for the time being and finally was put into soft contact lenses about a year later- BIG improvement, but not enough. If sand got in my eye, it felt like a rock, or if I rubbed my eye, my contact would completely shift. And contact wearers all know how awful it is to fall asleep in your contacts, and how bad it is for you.

LASIK surgery was something I had always wanted but didn’t ever think I could afford. I met Dr. Carter at a local event a year and a half ago, and he told me to come in and his staff would determine if I was a candidate for LASIK at no cost. His staff was super nice and extremely helpful. They worked with me financially and 2 weeks later, I was getting LASIK! It was the BEST investment I ever made. Seriously, it changed my life. For me, the biggest thing was being able to wake up in the morning and see. I didn’t have to hold my alarm up to my face, I didn’t have to put glasses or contacts on, I could see as soon as I woke up. I would recommend Dr. Carter and the staff at Carter Eye Center to any of my friends or family.
